There is essentially no best attacking civilization in aoe2. it very much depends on the map being played, opposition and number of players (1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 etc.) and style of play (rush,turtle,boom).. Before age of empires ii hd: the african kingdoms was released, a castle was required to train the second unique unit. since that was changed, the civilizations with two unique units gain the advantage of instant access to a unique unit once the castle age is reached.. Just full trush 11. aoe2 hd balance is a joke hd has the way better balance than aoc, nerfed mayans, nerfed huns, nerfed eagle spam. and stuff that got introduced new can´t of course be balanced right away but it will be with the next patches..
